Recruitment: Translators Needed

The team needs a couple translators for harder series like Petite Peche and to check translations (we currently have a backlog of scripts that need QCing). I'm looking for people with advanced Japanese language skills who can handle material without furigana. There is no translation commitment. Volunteers can translate as much as they want or nothing at all. However, there is a one chapter or oneshot per week commitment for translation QC.

If you are interested, please contact me, Kuroneko003 using the contact link at the top right corner of this blog.

So if you want to volunteer, know clever Photoshop tricks, have some free time from the end of May until September, please send me an e-mail via link at the top right hand side of this blog.

Recruitment -- Translator Needed for "Bread & Butter"

Translator found! Our very own Jade will be taking over the translation of "Bread & Butter".

I'm looking for an advanced level Japanese-to-English translator to take over translating "Bread & Butter" so we can quicken the pace of releases. The series does not have any furigana, so the interested person would have to be comfortable with that. Also, it would be helpful to be a native English speaker who's a good writer to minimize the time needed to edit scripts.  If you are interested, please contact me, Kuroneko003, via the contact link at the top right hand side of the blog. Either provide me with a translation sample or be prepared to take a test. The work load for this voluntary position is one 40 - 60-page chapter per every 2 months, though once a month is preferred.

We Need Immediate Help with Redraws

We need immediate help with redraws so we can release chapters of "Sabaku no Harem" and Sleepless King. If you can help this week, even it's only a few pages, that would help us tremendously.

I'm Back! (and Recruitment)

I'm back from the sticks! My grandmother's spirits were greatly lifted by our visit, so I'm glad I went. I read a few first volume of some shoujo manga series, so look out for some reviews on the Lovely Manga Blog.  I talked with key Crimson Flower members about picking up some new series. And it looks like from the survey, readers want us to continue "Sabaku no Harem", so we will as long as it stays a Lala DX series (there will be another special chapter in Lala next month.) Needless to say, I missed blogging, I missed translating, and I missed Photoshopping. I'm pumped! And I am ready to hobby my ass off!

We need help at Crimson Flower to finish off some series and start new ones.  Our greatest areas of need are typesetting and redrawing. If you have experience doing either of these and can spare some time, even on a temporary basis, please contact me, Kuroneko003 via the link in the upper right hand corner of this blog. Also, please see our recruitment page for description of all positions.

We will announce new series as we become able to work on them.

Recruitment: Proofreaders and QCer's Needed

We're running low on active proofreaders again.  Here are the duties:

  • Compare the translated version against the raw to make sure all the dialog and sound effects are present on the translated version.
  • Check the translated version for grammar errors, spelling errors, and typos.
  • Suggest better sentence construction if the wording reads clunky.
Workload: 1 - 5/ chapters per week, though proofreaders aren't expected to work on every project (that's why we have a pool of them.)

Requirements:  English fluency, attention to detail, a good grasp of grammar, and at least 1 free hour per week to dedicate to the task.

If you are interested, please contact me (Kuroneko003) at omarissister@gmail.com

Recruitment: Typesetters Needed!

Finally, I've figured out how to write my own scripts in a timely manner! I was transcribing from post-its which took as long as typesetting, so I decided to just typeset myself. But now I'm comfortable enough to type as I translate :). I know that sounds derpy, but I write all over the pages as I translate and write the translation on Post-it notes.  Anyhow, I would like to transfer most of my typesetting role to a small team of dedicated typesetters.  I would prefer to bring in people who have some experience typesetting and who also know how to create various special effects on type.  The commitment would be two projects per month (50 - 90-pages).  If you are interested, please contact me via e-mail at: omarissister@gmail.com

Opportunities:
  • "Pochamani"
  • "Rex Fabula"
  • "Yuurei Apaato Kanrinin"
  • Short series
  • Oneshots

We Need You! Omari's Sister is Recruiting!

Three of our redraw artists have left the group, so if you can led us a hand redrawing and clone stamping that would be great! We are now preparing for July and August.
-----------------------------------
We are recruiting for summer break! If you don't have time while school is in session, then perhaps you can lend us a hand during school breaks.  We will be doing many oneshots and short series during the summer and the second half of 2013.  As usual we need Japanese to English translators and redraw artists. Cleaners and a new batch of proofreaders/QCers are welcomed too. For more information, please see our recruitment page HERE.

Recruitment: Japanese to English Translators Needed

Update:  We lost our translator for "Boukyaku no Shirushi to Hime" halfway through the translation of chapter 1.  Unless we find a translator, that project will be delayed until later in the year or not done at all. Problem solved!

Our proofreader and cleaning/redraw artist recruitment campaigns went well. Much thanks goes out to our new recruits.  Our final bottleneck is translators.  At the end of last year we lost Amrai and Blotty to real life and other translation endeavors.  This leaves us short staffed for oneshots and short-series.  I'm looking for advanced level translators (not necessarily fluent, because I'm not fluent myself) who are comfortable without furigana for potential josei and seinen projects.  That, though, is not a must. Volunteers who need furigana can stick to shoujo projects.  A few words to set expectations: it is my goal to present translations that flow and sounds natural. I would like translators to already be able to do that. However, if you are merely good at translation and writing is not one of your strengths, we do have staff that will rewrite scripts, or you can help QC the scripts from other translators.

Minimum Responsibilities:
- one series (no longer than 5 volumes, most series are 3 - 12 chapters) with monthly releases
or
- one oneshot/month

We have no set deadlines. You may work at your own pace within the monthly release schedule. You just need to tell me when you'll have it in. I provide all the raws and we have other translators in the group and amateur and professional friends who can help if you get stuck.

If you are interested in volunteering at Omari's Sister as a translator, please contact me, Kuroneko003 at omarissister@gmail.com

Recruitment: Reliable Proofreaders/QC Needed IMMEDIATELY

Once again lack of reliable proofreaders/QCers is delaying releases.  I need at least a handful of reliable proofreaders/QCers to help get releases completed. The commitment is about 1 - 3 hours per week.  You don't have to proofread every release if there are enough volunteers.

Requirements:  English fluency,  English grammar proficiency and at least 1 hour/week free time

If you are interested in helping Omari's Sister, please contact me, Kuroneko003, at omarissister@gmail.com

Recruiting Cleaners and Redraw Artist for "Ore to Atashi no Kareshisama" and "Rex Fabula"

We need cleaners and redraw artist for the speed up of  "Ore to Atashi no Kareshisama" and "Rex Fabula." No scanlation experience is need for cleaners. I can provide you with training (start here: Cleaning Tutorial Link).  Photoshop CS2 is available for free from Adobe (LINK) so that is no longer a hurdle. As for redraw artists, you don't need scanlation experience, but you do have to possess the Photoshop skills to properly clone stamp and draw in Photoshop.  Redraw applicants will be tested to assess their skill level. If you are interested in volunteering for these projects, please e-mail me, Kuroneko003, at omarissister@gmail.com. The more help we get, the faster we can get these series done and move onto to exciting new series!

December Plans, Winter Break Recruitment, and November Stats

December is going to be much sparser than I planned.  The mature josei oneshot for Bakeneko's Lair is going to 3 weeks to complete and there's the craziness of the holidays.  So expect the next chapter of Magnolia to be the only release on Omari's Sister.  If we're lucky, I might be able to eek out something else. But! Do not feel sad, because January and February will be glorious. While I'm working on the josei oneshot, the rest of the group and our temps will be lending us part of their winter breaks to work on winter releases :). There should be a lot of projects close to completion at the close of year.  And! I promise you adults out there that the josei oneshot is well worth the wait and foregoing more releases.  Yes, yes, it's a wonderful sexy, funny, romantic, and sweet fairytale.

On that note, we are recruiting. If you would like to volunteer briefly over winter break, we'd be happy to have you. We need cleaners, redraw artists, and onehot translators. Of course you are welcome to stay after the break. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to me, Kuroneko003, at omarissister@gmail.com.

Now let's look back at November. There are no surprises here. "Ore to Atashi no Kareshisama" was the most downloaded release. Onto the breakdown!

Recruitment: J to E Translator Needed for "Dolci"

We need a Japanese to English translator for "Dolci." Dolci is a josei title and therefore doesn't have furigana.  The translator also has to be very familiar with colloquial male speech.  The schedule is one chapter per month, and the series is 15 chapters long. We would like to start the series in January 2013. You can translate at your own pace though if you wish to complete the series ahead of schedule.  If you are interested, please send me an e-mail (use the contact link at the top-right corner of this blog) and I will send you some sample pages to make sure you like the story and can do the translation. If you need an English editor, no worries. We can do as much editing and rewriting as needed from your translation to make it read smoothly in English.

We at Omari's Sister are gearing up for December's Nao Tsukiji and Kaoru Ichinose releases.  To have a successful December, we need a few temporary volunteers to help us out.  The volunteer period starts now and ends December 24th, though you are welcomed to continue on in the group after the 24th.  Here's what we need:

Cleaners --  No prior scanlation experience is needed. If you already have working knowledge of Photoshop I (Kuroneko003) am willing to train you. Redraw Artists -- experience is needed.  I will test you to see the extent of your skill.
