This special chapter isn't what I expected from the preview teaser, but it does fit in perfectly with our "Spooky One-shots" Fall theme.  This little ghost story is a nice transition from summer to fall, so all is forgiven, though, I really wanted TamaxHaru happy married love-love short.  Can you imagine how "stoopid" a pregnant Haruhi chapter could be?  You'd have craziness from Tamaki, Renka, and nutty Tamaki's Dad to deal with on that.  Anyhow...on to the links:

This is the first of two planned Ouran short stories appearing in Lala magazine to commemorate the OHSHC live action drama.  This one-shot centers around Mei and Kasanoda who were revealed to an item in the extras from Volume 18.  It's a cute one-shot.

And now onto the good stuff.  Like somebody else commented in the teaser post, these extras should give most everyone a satisfying end to the "Ouran High School Host Club" series.  I still want more Kyouya...but I'll live, I suppose.  Also...I shouldn't complain too much since I did get this (as written in the chatbox while I was struggling with the Barcelona extra chapter):

I would gladly give up this 60-page monstrosity for 6-page short of TamaXHaru snuggling on a couch on Friday night watching Netflix...as a needed rest after a good performance on midterms...

At last! Here is the final chapter of "Ouran High School Host club." I'd like to thank everyone for hanging in there with me for the last 12-chapters of this series. I've come along way as a translator and an image editor since I reluctantly started this series last year.

If you enjoyed Ouran and want to reread it, I encourage you to purchase the manga in Japanese or in English.  In the US, volume 1 - 14 are available from Viz.  Here's a convenient link to my Amazon store where you can purchase all the available volumes of Ouran from Viz (currently, there's a 4 manga books for the price of 3 deal going).  At least buy a volume or two to let Viz know you like Ouran and that you want them to continue providing us with similar manga series.  Plus, if you buy from my Amazon store, I'll receive a tiny referral payment.  As for the Japanese version, I recommend purchasing from YesAsia or Amazon Japan.  I think buying the Japanese version will more directly help the mangaka.  Akadot also has volumes of the series available, but their pricing is way too high for me to recommend them for this particular series.

And finally -- yes, I will translate any new content that appears in the upcoming Lala Special and if there is a following-on series or special Ouran stories in any of the Lala affiliated magazines, I will translate those as well.  Also, I will be purchasing volume 18 in Japanese for the bonus content and if there is more comic material, I will translate it.  Also, as for retirement of the series, it will happen as scheduled at midnight October 31st.  All follow-on content will also be posted for only a month.

Chapter 83 will release on September 24th in Japanese. The translation will be released about a week later.

Lala 10 and Ouran Chp 82 Spoilers

I finally have Lala 10! Yippee!  The freebies in this issue are a "Vampire Knight" memo pad and a "Natsume Yuujinchou" Nyanko-Sensei plushy keychain (it kind of big for a keychain, though).  As for the Ouran drama CD that was advertised, it is a mail order item that can be purchased for 1200-yen (about $12US).  There's actually a BUNCH Ouran merchandise advertised in this issue.  I guess "present" in Japanese is a euphemism for "merchandise.  Duly noted in my notebook so I remember from now on...

Speaking of that merchandise:

There's pins, an image CD, and a button-looking things among the things to buy.  I hope at least one of the many online stores will get some of this merchandise in stock so folks outside of Japan can buy some.

Ouran High School Host Club Final Party Project

Here are the reference pages explaining the "Host Club" final party project.  The section that reads "Present" are just descriptions of the prizes available from the raffle associated with each part of the project.  I don't expect anyone who reads this blog entry to try to enter the contests, but I went ahead and translated most of it because I felt it was a nice retrospective on the series.  Also, some of you may want to go through the motions of the contest activities, but not actually enter.

Retiring Arakure (Wild Ones)

Arakure ("Wild Ones") volume 10 releases June 1st, and, with that, the complete series will be out to purchase in English from Viz.  At that time I will be pulling the series from my blog and server.  If you like the series, I encourage you to support the author and the distributor by purchasing the books.  Also, this will make room for me to add new unlicensed series and one-shots for you all to read.  I will be doing the same with Ouran 1-month after I release the translation of the final chapter.  Of course, I have no control over the content posted at the manga aggregation sites, so do what you must if you truly cannot purchase the manga in your area.

Ouran 80 Stuff (Spoilers)

I've got the raw, but I haven't really done much with it yet.  In a nutshell this is what happens:

• The Host Club with the help of other Ouran students all help get Tamaki to the airport just in time to see his mother off
• Haruhi and Tamaki go running through the airport hand-in-hand
• As Tamaki and Haruhi watch Anne-Sophie's plane take-off, Haruhi ... Tamaki ;p

Now for some bad news: chapter 81 will not be released until the end of July, so we have a three month wait before we see what becomes of Haruhi's ...At the end of the chapter there's a notification that beginning with Lala issue 9 the story will be rushing towards conclusion and that there will be an important announcement in Lala 8 about the planning of the story's climax.  I don't know whether this is notification that the Ouran series is ending or whether this is notification about the end of the current story arc.  So, in light of this, I'm going to take a wait and see stance and see what the announcement in June says and then wait to to see whether the story continues when chapter 81 is released.

In light of the Ouran news, I have updated the group's release schedule.  Less Ouran = more Orange Chocolate!!!

How do you Feel About Ouran Ending -- Poll Results

I ended the poll a few days early because the results seem overwhelming clear.  85% of you projected warm feelings towards Ouran.  Here's a summary of the results:
