Planning for 2014 -- Thanks for your Input

Thanks to everyone who gave us feedback through the survey and especially to those who took the time to write thoughtful comments.  We understand that the readers of this blog want more josei, while not neglecting shoujo. We understand that you come to this blog to read something different than the typical middle school and high school shoujos.  And we got the message loud and clear that you like oneshots and short series.

First of all, we still have some typical shoujos in the pipeline.  We will complete these projects and then move on. These projects include:

  • "Ore to Atashi no Kareshisama" (7 more chapters to complete)
  • "Megane no Incubus-kun" (3-chapter short series)
  • "Aoi Tsumeato" (oneshot)
  • "Funjunbatsu" (oneshot)
After chapter 11 of "Pochamani" we will be putting the series on hiatus. This series started as a oneshot that was expanded to 3 chapters, that was expanded to a volume, and then to a never-ending shoujo. I keep up with series, so I know what happens. After chapter 11, the story starts to jump the shark -- including some biker dude and another heavy girl who wants to become Tsumugi's disciple. I think from our perspective, we don't want to take on never-ending series unless they are interesting and appeared to be planned.  I would like to take a wait-and-see period to see where the series is going and to see whether the series is truly going to be never-ending (This is a danger when taking on series from Hana to Yume). We will make a clear announcement if we decided to drop the series.

We are still working on other series that have ended in Japan.  We are currently doing periodic mass releases of "Rex Fabula".  After we finish that, we will move onto to finishing "Ore to Atashi no Kareshisama" and "Yuurei Apaato Kanrinin". The next batch of "Rex Fabula" will come out next month, and we'll release a chapter of OtoA and YAK each too. Thanks to everyone helping us with Rex. This series has tough redraws so it's been slow.  The same applies to OtoA, so we apologize for our pace.  YAK...>_>  (subconsciously I don't want that series to end... it's not particularly difficult to release.) We will also clear out all the oneshots and short series that are in some state of completion regardless of theme.  Haha! We've got a lot of them!

Okay... onto new stuff. Three new series will be debuting very soon. One is a series I've been waiting for to release in tankoubon form for nearly a year.  It's by an mangaka that's near and dear to my heart (and you readers too), so look out for it soon.  The next series smacked in the face hard with gloriousness.  We're nearly done with the first chapter, so look out for it next week. And the lastly the sequel to "Kanojo ni Naru Hi". We are continuing one with the other new series we've introduced.  The series from Haruca and Itan are on a very slow release schedule in Japan (once every 2 - 6 months).  We have no influence over that...so...oh well. But this give us a lot flexibility in our schedule to take on many projects from these publications.  Also! We are working on a variety of short-series (1 volume) and oneshots.  I, Kuroneko003, am personally now working 50% on series and 50% on short-series and oneshots. Typesetters willing, a flood of oneshots is coming soon as we complete a bunch of already translated works.  Please check the release schedule to see what we're up to! I'm looking forward to launching the new series.  Most of what we've got going on now series-wise will fill out 2014. We will take up new short series as we finish short series.

Current and Upcoming Themes!
  • November - mid-December: Supernatural, Horror, and Pyschological
  • December - February:  Fairytales

Please feel free to give us some more feedback on what you would like to see in 2014.  Please no specific series though. We aren't taking specific requests, but do give us some theme ideas. Also, Pochamani fans, please be gentle with me.

We need typesetters and redraw artists, so if you want more faster releases, please volunteer to help us. Contact me using the contact link at the top in the right side column if you are interested.

Looking Forward to 2013 at Omari's Sister

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a safe and fun holiday season. I've been taking a short break from OS since finishing "Ojousama no Untenshu." I played and beat Torchlight II and watched some movies with hubby. I recommend "Cabin in the Woods." It was a very clever play on horror movie tropes. "Ted"...well...my husband liked it a lot more than I did. I felt that it was too much of a "man movie" for me. If you can marathon "Family Guy," then you'll love "Ted." Me...I'm sorta a "Family Guy" in the background kind of person. I also cut up a great deal of cardboard for recycling. We had way too much fun with Amazon lightening sales and I gifted myself a crap-ton of manga from Amazon JP, so naturally a bunch of cardboard built up.

Looking forward to 2013, personally, I'll be starting the job hunt again. hopefully this time I will find a job I like at the appropriate skill level. Haha! Being over-qualified is a horrible position to be in. I think I would rather be challenged than bored. When I do get a job, expect the pace of release to slow. I think we will be able to manage ~120-pages/month (Currently we average ~240-page/month).

Okay, now onto 2013 plans for Omari's Sister. The priorities for the first half the year are to finish all series than are done in Japan. We will not be starting any new series until we have completed unfinished series. We also will be doing very few oneshots until we finish these series. We will be working on these series according to the following schedule:

January: "Deterame Mousouryoku Opera"
February: "Fushigi no Maria-kun"
March: "Furou Kyoudai"
April - June: "Ore to Atashi no Kareshi-sama" & "Rex Fabula"
July - Sept: "Kemono Kingdom: Zoo"

On a ongoing basis we will release "Magnolia/Lily" and "Pochamani" monthly. After we finish our 7 unfinished series, we will resume regular releases of "The Ghost Apartment Manager."

We will have some themed oneshot parties:

February: Vampire Weddings
June: OS Anniversary oneshot blowout -- Nao Tsukiji, Mai Nishikata, Kaoru Ichinose, Hana Kimi Tributes, and more!
October: Spooky -- Aka Lala & Shiro Lala 2012
Other months will be TBD

I'm still evaluating new series to start in 2013. I'll announce the new series in June. If we finish up the unfinished series early, we will start new series then. For hints about what I'm looking at, please take a look at the Omari's Sister Tumblr page. I am looking strictly at short series.

As usual, thank to our readers for your continued support and thanks to all the Omari's Sister volunteers for your hardwork. Let's make 2013 another great year!

2012 Schedule Announcements

First of all:  we are recruiting for all positions.  If you are interested in volunteering for Omari's Sister, please look at the recruitment tab on this blog and then contact me (Kuroneko003) via e-mail through the contact link at the top right hand corner of this blog.

I've finally worked through a schedule for the rest of 2012! Here are the plans:
  • October's One-shot theme -- Halloween! (of course)
  • November's One-shot them -- Fall Tragedies (2 one-shots from Aka Lala)
  • December's One-shot them -- Nao Tsukiji one-shots! (3 long and 1 short)
Series that will be completed --
  • Ojousama no Untenshu
  • Furou Kyoudai
  • Pochamani
  • Fushigi no Maria-kun
Ongoing Series --
  • Magnolia
  • Servamp
Resuming January 2013!!!!
  • Rex Fabula
  • Ore to Atashi no Kareshisama
  • Kemono Kingdom: Zoo (we will be accelerating this since the series is complete in Japan)
  • The Ghost Apartment Manager
  • Detarame no Mousouryoku Opera Chp 3 (end)
With the completion of 4 series by the end of 2012, we can start 2 new series in January 2013.  There are several on my wishlist and I will announce the new series before the end of the year. My feeling is that we will choose one historical romance (1 - 2 volumes) and a josei series for Bakeneko's Lair. We will evaluate the possibility of taking on more new series as 2013 unfolds.

Two chapters of "Ojousama no Untenshu" will be released next week!

November at Omari's Sister

We need fall banners!  Send in your fall banners! The width is 1200-pixels and the height has to be less than 350-pixels.

October was a wild ride.  We had a big snag which caused us to have to re-clean 4 releases...ugh...Fortunately, the team was up to the challenge and we've almost made up the lost time.  October brought us some exciting news.  "Seirei Produce" is back from a year long hiatus and a treat of a series, "Ore to Atashi no Kareshi" popped up in Asuka magazine.  Hooray!

October at Omari's Sister! Spooky Banners are Needed!

We've entered the spooky month! Muwhohahahaha!  But first, a little bit about September.  We got a lot done considering my home server crash and the folks who are students in this group getting into stride at school.  Good job everyone!

July 2011 at Omari's Sister

Whee!  It's summer! BBQ!!!
Okayz~ Onto the meats of July!  Here's what we have on the grill:
  • Yukarism Chp 7 -- Another great chapter!  A great range of emotion from "Yeeks" to "Daww"~
  •  Magnolia Chp 12 + Lily Chp 2 -- Magnolia is extra short, so we'll combine the releases. Magnolia teases the dangerous twins scenario and ends with a Nagi embrace :3.
  • The Ghost Apartment Manager Chp 6 -- The end of Kyariko's arc.
  • The Scarecrow of Oz Chp 3 and 4 -- So cute! Plus an evil witch!
  • Fushigi no Maria-kun Chp 1 -- Heheheh! A hyper high school and her awesome vampire childhood friend.  Good stuff from Shiina Dai, the mangaka of "World End Garden".
  • Ojou-sama no Untenshu Chp 1 -- Haughty Ojou and her handsome driver ;p
  • The Big Summer One-shot:  "Seigi no Mikata -- a super hero story for the summer for those of you unimpressed with the summer blockbusters -- mainly me...so...sad...no popcorn for me so far :(
  • One-shot: ”Billy-Bouchan" by Yumi Kiiro (Joint with The Zero Alliance) -- this is another one-shot that's along the lines of "The Honeybee Earl"

April 2011 at Omari's Sister

Take a good look at the cover of this month's Aria magazine.  It's so pretty!

I'm gonna call March over two days ahead because the next two days I will not be doing much manga-wise.  It's ;p and :/ at the same time. Hahaha!  Darned that real life of mine!

First an announcement for "Junketsu + Kareshi" fans, of which I know there are many of you and I know initially this is going to upset you...but I'm doing what's best for the sake of the story's continuity and everyone's sanity (including my own).  Shouoto-sensei is taking a month off, so J+K chapter 10 will not release until late May in Aria 7.  After taking a look at chapter 9, I've decided that where it left off in chapter 8 is less agonizing than doing chapter 9 now and leaving you all and myself hanging off the edge of a nasty cliffhanger for 2 months.  So instead we will do a J+K chapter 9 and 10 double release late May/early June instead.  Trust me, you will thank me later for doing it this way.

Now that that bit of business is done, here's what we've got planned for April!
  • "Magnolia" Chp 9
  • "Yukarism" Chp 4
  • "The Ghost Apartment Manager" Chp 3
  • "Akagami no Shirayukihime" Chp 24
  • "Kemono Kingdom: Zoo" Chp 4
  • The "Scarecrow of Oz" Chp 1
  • The second "Furou Kyoudai" one-shot
  • The Big Spring One-Shot:  "Nanairo no Mukou"
There may be some changes to this plan depending on whether we decide to translate "3 Hearts".

Happy Spring Everyone!

My desk is overflowing with one-shot is various stages of completion (Most awaiting typesetting).  Since February is a short month, I've decided just to translate the group's core series and complete the stack of one-shots.  We'll resume a more regular schedule with all of our series and at most one one-shot per month in March (there will be a double release of Pika Ichi!).

Series:
  • Magnolia Chp 7 (Done)
  • Junketsu + Kareshi Chp 7 (Almost Done)
  • Yukarism Chp 2
  • Series Debut: The Ghost Apartment Manager (Yuurei Apaato Kanrinin) Chp 1
  • Zoo Chp 3

  • Vahlia's Bridegroom by Akizuki Sorata

June at Omari's Sister

Despite the appendicitis set back that began May, things went very well.  We plowed through a lot of series and had a successful trial of "Seirei Produce." We will be continuing "Seirei Produce" as a joint project with La Noche de los Caidos and Hayana.  The other two teams will be translating SP into Spanish and French, respectively.  I'm happy to report as we exit May, the return of Sephyna and Kuma-chan.  Welcome back!

What on deck for June?
  • The "Kimi no XOXO" trial
  • Orange Chocolate chp 14
  • Akagami no Shirayukihime Chp 19
  • Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen Chp 17
  • The preview for Ouran Chp 81
Please see the release schedule for the latest on the release dates for all these series!

May at Omari's Sister

First of all I would like to thank the Omari's Sister crew, including the new proofreaders, for a great April!  We finished all that was scheduled and even had time to throw in an extra chapter of "Orange Chocolate!"  Great job, everyone!

Now onto May!  Here's what I have planned:
  • Orange Chocolate Chp 11 and 12
  • The Hana Kimi May 2010 Omake -- Sano and Nakatsu's graduation!
  • Kaichou-san no Koneko" Chp 2 and an omake
Planning the months ahead, July has a couple of slots to fill (if I'm still unemployed...).  I'll be looking over past suggestions for one-shots and short series to fill in the holes.  The current front runners are to give "Love Sick" a second look and a very long one-shot that I've been staring at.  Tell me how you feel about "Love Sick" or feel free to make new make suggestions!

I know a bunch of you have requested chp 13 - 15 of "Hachimitsu no Hana."  I have decided not to take that on unless the mangaka resumes the series with the intention to actually finish it.  I've also heard requests for "Berry Berry."  To be honest, I'm afraid of getting roped into that series given that past series by that mangaka have been extremely long and I don't want to get roped in multiple series that last for years.  Honestly, I like short series like "Kaichou-san no Koneko."  So if any of you know of some short series, that would be great!

As always, to see what we're up to on a daily basis, check the release schedule page.  Link

Also, if you like to join the Omari's Sister team, send me a little e-mail.  I need another translator and I'm willing to train cleaners and image editors as long as you have some version of Photoshop :).
