Oneshot: "Saite no Kimi wo Wasurenai" (You're the Worst, but I won't Forget you) by Yuu Mitsuha

As one of the proofreaders pointed out, it's been a long time since we've released a oneshot. Yep! It's been since February. We've been pushing really hard to catch up on our top priority monthly series, and now that we've pretty much caught up, we can start releasing oneshots again.

This oneshot has been translated and sitting on the back burner for about a year. I think this may be our first oneshot from Betsucomi magazine. Anyhow, this is pretty straight forward girl friendship shoujo, so I don't feel the need to write my thoughts about this oneshot. For me it's nostalgic because I've been on both ends of the ignore-a-former-friend situation. Although, it's a bittersweet, I think this oneshot is very calming and pleasant read.

Thanks to Peonine for a lovely translation and to our new letterer, Cortz, for completing the lettering very quickly.

And now onto the release!

Valentine's Day Oneshot #2: "Joifo" ("Joyful") by Haru Kudo

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone on this side of the world! This is our first project from The Margaret. For years I avoided Shueisha and Shogokugan manga and josei, but last year I gave the publishers' magazines a chance and fell in love with The Margaret. I highly recommend this magazine if you love high school romance shoujo oneshots that have a more depth and maturity than the usual stuff from Margaret/Betsuma.

"Joifo" is one of the oneshots I live Tweeted months ago. The response on Twitter was quite favorable, so I decided to translate it for Valentine's Day. Folks with strict parents and folks who know what it's like to restrain your true self should resonate with this oneshot. And for everyone else, it's about cosplay! I hope you like this oneshot!

And now on to the release!

Lala Fantasy Oneshot: "Vered no Rosemary" by Hitsuji Harumi

This is one of the oneshot from Lala Fantasy, a special Fantasy themed Lala magazine. The frontis page of this oneshot struck me. It looks like one of those carved cameo. I also like the rosemary wreathe and the ornament in Rose's hair.

I really enjoyed Peonine and Jade's translation of this oneshot. Great job ladies! Ahhh... and Ichi's redraws... Hee! Anyhow, I'm a sucker for royal romance like this one.

And now onto the release!

Valentine's Day Oneshot #4: "Tobenai Washi Ouji" ("The Eagle Prince who Can't Fly") by Shiori Koharu

It looks like yesterday's oneshot threw everyone for a loop. I've got plenty more train wrecks stockpiled, so be prepared for a wily 2014.  Today though, we're back to traditional fantasy shoujo with a fairytale.  It's got a little spunk to it, but I promise this oneshot is full of what you expect.

This oneshot is dedicated to Silver Lunar. She is the first person who joined Omari's Sister way back many years ago.  She loves birds, and this smart-ass bird prince seemed perfect for her. So thanks to Silver Lunar for years of dedication and for making sure that we translate bird and animal manga :).

And now onto the release!

Zombie Apocalypse Shoujo Oneshot: "Kuma-san to Issho" ("Together with Mr. Bear") by Yutaka Tachibana

I wanted this to be our final release of 2013, but I underestimated how challenging the redraws and the lettering for this oneshot would be. (Give a big thanks to Ichigo Stars for her amazing redrawing! This release looks fabulous!) Despite the setting of this manga being the hottest thing in current pop culture, this is the first time I've seen a shoujo manga set in a zombie apocalypse.  And no, there aren't any cute moe-girlfriend zombies in this oneshot. Nope, this is a straight-up horror, but at the same time it's fearless and sweet. This is one of my favorite oneshots from Lala Fantasy.  I hope to see more daring oneshots like this in shoujo this new year.

And now onto the release!

Short Oneshot: "Sayonara Kodomotachi" ("Farewell Children") by Satoshi Morie

Continuing on with our releases, here's a new oneshot from Satoshi Morie. I don't want to say much about it, other than I found it shocking and incredibly sweet at the same time.  I like Satoshi Morie's oneshots a lot, so look out for more of them in the future.  Hopefully we will release her latest oneshot toward the end of the month.

And now onto the release!

Halloween Oneshot 1: "Kaeribana no Kanojo" ("The Return of the Flower Girl") by Meca Tanaka

It's already Halloween for some parts of the world, so let's get on with the Halloween cuteness. This is a short oneshot that came out in Shiro Lala 2012. Get out a hankey, because I bet this little oneshot is gonna cause some tears.

Short Oneshot: "Because I've Always Been Watching" by Hisaya Nakajo

First a plug!  Purely fanservice oneshot "Neko Hiroimashita" ("I Picked up a Cat") is out on Bakeneko's Lair.  It's safe for tweens and up, but just not appropriate for Omari's Sister. Anyhow... bishies with cat ears in loin clothes doing cute stuff and absolutely no story... have at it!  (LINK)

Hooray! Something new, albeit very short, from Hisaya Nakajo.  Her series "Hana Kimi" was the first manga series I ever purchased. This very short oneshot was a real pain in the behind. Some of the run-on sentence kept making us trip all over keyboards. Haha! Hopefully we've wrestling this spunky little oneshot to the ground and subdued it. I wanted to release this with "Netsugen wa Koko" because they are similarly themed... but... well, it just didn't work out right.  Anyhow, onto the links!

Halloween Oneshot: "Nibun no Ichi: 1/2" by Mitsuo Shimokitazawa

This is a freaky little oneshot from a supplemental from shoujo stalwart Betsuma Magazine. I don't particularly like Betsuma series, but I do get the magazine when there's a supplemental because there's a chance there could be something different and good inside. This oneshot is one such little gem.

All I'll say about this oneshot is "ah, yeah, bye-bye."  I laughed so hard at the ending, even though I'm pretty sure that wasn't the response the mangaka was going for.  Sorry, but it was too cornball!

On to the release!

Halloween Oneshot: "Genei Realism" ("Phantom Realism") by Suga Toone

This oneshot reminded me of "F no Meikyuu" in pacing and development. I think folks who like AnS will also like this oneshot.  I ended up liking this oneshot a lot more than I thought I would. I think what I liked the most is how things summed up in the end. It's a very realistic and believable ending even though most readers may crave the sugar-coated ending we all expected.

Thanks again goes out to Amrai for translating this oneshot, thanks to Noir for helping with the cleaning, and a big thanks to Holanio for some fabulous typesetting!

And now onto the release!

Halloween Oneshot: "Yadokari Honpo" by Shizuru Onda

Update: The PDF has been fixed. Please let me know if you still have trouble with it.

I'm releasing this before midnight because I'm crazy tired and just want to go to sleep! This is our second to last oneshot from last year's Kuro Lala.  Can you believe we nearly translated the entire magazine?! Haha!

I would like to thank Amrai for translating this challenging oneshot.  Also, thanks goes out to Noir for a fabulous job cleaning and Kiruku Naru for typesetting.  Great work, ladies!

What drew me to this oneshot were the character drawings and the scary ghost drawings. I was happy to see after the translation was completed that it also had a very cute, albeit bittersweet, story. Okay, my brain is seriously shutting down and I fear I'm typing complete gibberish, so I better get to the release now.

Halloween Oneshot Blast from the Past! "The Doll Rebirth Workshop" by Yukichi Nakamura

This is one of the freakiest oneshot we've ever done.  The end is so WTF that you'll never for it.  Yes, let's revisit one of my favorite oneshots from last year's Kuro Lala, "The Doll Rebirth Workshop." (LINK)

It looks like we are going to release a bunch of oneshot during the last few days of the month. I'll release them shortly after midnight as they become ready. The first one will be released tomorrow.

Ghostly Oneshot from the Past: "Shinobigoto"

AUGH!!! I'm so embarrassed!  This is a oneshot we did nearly two-and-a-half years ago. It was back when I was using "ne" (ugh, smack me now, please!) and didn't recognize two page spreads (derp). Haha!  Despite the translation quirks (especially that clunky crap on the title page -- "You are imprisoned in my thoughts, and this rotten self will not let you leave."), it's still one of my favorite supernatural oneshots, so let's revisit it. (LINK) I apologize now for the missing periods. I don't know where they ran off to.

Hopefully, we'll have something new for you at midnight on the 25th. There are 3 oneshots that are almost done.  If not, then we'll have blast of oneshots around Halloween day.

Halloween Oneshot: "Anata wa Watashi no Taisetsuna Okaasan? ("You are my Dear Mother") by Ume Tarou

This is a very short oneshot from the Josei magazine "Wings."  It came in last year's magazine extra "Horror Wings 2011."  We didn't have a chance this year to do some of the longer oneshots from this extra, but don't be surprised if next Halloween you see a couple more oneshots from the Horror Wings extras (I also have the 2012 edition).

Not to ruin anything, but just a warning: this oneshot has some gore.  Despite the gore, it manages to have some underlying sweetness.  Actually, it's very sentimental.  Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it!

Halloween Oneshot: "Snuff Film Monologue" by Amuji Nanakumo

Here's another twisted spooky take from that now infamous August issue of The Hana to Yume magazine.  Like "Tomo's Scary Story," I'm taken aback that this appeared in a Hana to Yume branded magazine.

Anyhow, this is an amazing story to be told in only 16-pages.  The mangaka has demonstrated great storytelling abilities in both her prose and drawings.  I hope to see more from this mangaka in the future.

Onto the release!

Halloween Oneshot: "Tomo no Kowai Hanashi" (Tomo's Scary Story") by Panya Koro

If you've been following the conversations in the chatbox or on Twitter, then you know this is the freaky little tale the group has been talking about.  This is one of the creepier oneshots that we'll be releasing this month.  I hope you enjoy it as much as the group did.

On to the release!

Halloween Oneshot: "Akuma wo Sasayaku" ("A Devil Whispers") by Youko Nogiri

Welcome to the Omari's Sister month long Halloween one-shot party.  We will try to release every odd day in October.

This first story is just a small appetizer to get us started. It's not scary in the least bit...unless you consider the sweet whispers of a handsome young man to be evil.  Hahaha!  I like this oneshot a lot and I hope you readers enjoy it too.

Onto the release!

Aka Lala One-shot "S no Kaikoroku" by Akane Ogure is out on Bakeneko's Lair

The first of the Aka Lala one-shots, "S no Kaikoroku," is out on Bakeneko's Lair.  I felt that the subject of S & M was too intensely presented for Omari's Sister, so I released it on Bakeneko's Lair.  I was disturbed by this oneshot, and therefore don't recommend this for anyone under the age of 16 or for anyone who is uncomfortable with the subject matter.

One-Shot: "Furou Kyoudai" The Long Version

Phew! We managed to get this done before Thanksgiving madness goes full-swing!  Anyhow, here is the long version of Furou Kyoudai!  The story is the same as short version, however, there's more detail and character development.  I really enjoy this sibling pair and I hope Hakusensha allows Shiwasu-sensei to turn this into a series.

Links to the long version of "Furou Kyoudai": (Zip) (PDF)

There is a 40-page follow on "Furou Kyoudai" one-shot.  We will try to release it early in the new year.

Next up is J+K and Magnolia.   December will be nuts because of the holidays and vacation plans, so please don't expect to see J+K and Magnolia within a week after I receive Aria.  Please check the release schedule for the latest release dates.  We'll do our best, but at the same time, it's a special time of year to spend with our families and friends.  So enjoy the holiday season and we'll be back in full-swing January :).

Happy Thanksgiving to folks in the US!  And for heaven's sake, don't bring your manga to the dinner table...put it down and eat...
